What Causes A Rash Below The Injection Site Of A Shingles Vaccine?
I got the shingles vaccine Friday, woke up Sat and had a gigantic rash right below the injection site. It looks like a bad insect bite and so itchy and red. Do I need to go back and see the doctor or is this a common side effect of the shot? i have been taking Benedryl for the itching, any other recommendations? Thank you so much for the help!!!
Your symptoms seem to be related to side effects of the shingles injection. I suggest using Calamine lotion for local application. I also recommend using anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen to relieve the symptoms.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
