What Causes A Rash On The Ankle After Taking Tamiflu?

I started taking Tamiflu on Thursday the 1st and yesterday morning I woke up with a bright red rash on my foot and ankle - called the doctors office and the oncall doctor suggested Benedryl which I started taking but the rash in still there today. The Tamiflu was prescribed because of my age and the reason I went to the office was a fever (103.4). I do not have the flu and I stopped the Tamiflu after yesterdays morning does. I have scheduled a visit with my doctor but just want to get an opinion of how serious this might be. I do not have pain and I Friday night my fever was gone.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The rash is likely an allergic reaction to Tamiflu. You can continue taking Benadryl. The reaction is likely mild in your case, and there is nothing much to be worried after discontinuing Tamiflu.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal
