Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i have a sort of rash on the outside of my left elbow, thought it may have been a mosquito bite. started as a very itchy bump and has traveled in a line as a series of bumps in a distinct red line. 11 days have passed with my only adding 1 % hydrocortisone for last few of those. it seems to help for a short time. can you help me determine what it is?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
It seems to be an insect or ant bite got irritated by the allergic reaction in the beginning getting inflamed due to severe itching. You should apply over the counter steroid skin ointment locally. Rub it gently 2-3 times in a day/keep it dry. Avoid sweat. It should reduce in 4-5 days and slowly disappear in a week's time. In case of no response or aggravation, he should see a skin specialist for associated oral medicines.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
