What Causes A Rash Under The Breast While On Prednisone?

I ve been on Prednesone for several weeks (a couple of different rounds), and a week or so ago noticed a rash under my left breast that burns and itches. Since I have allergies, I figured it was a reaction to laundry soap or something else, and was using my usual topical cream on it. But my sister just told me it could be from the steroid. It s the weekend, and I m trying to figure out how to treat the rash.

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If it is a localized rash, then mostly due to some allergen like you have referred. Prednisone is a steroid that has anti-allergic property, hence it is unlikely to cause such a rash. If allergy to it does occur then it can be a generalized reaction.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
