What Causes A Recurring Kernel In The Throat Followed By Ear Pain?

I have had a recurring kernel of popcorn feeling on one side of my throat that often is accompanied by and inner ear ache. I swallow often which only intensifies the sensation in my throat. At first, I thought it was a new medication (TrokendiXR) but stopped med for 8 days (symptoms left after 2). I retried TXR for two days, symptoms returned almost immediately - however have lingered now for 5 days after??? Could it be something else?

Hello,

Since Trokendi XR is causing side effects you may talk to the treating doctor & get the medicine replaced by another medicine that suits you better. Inform your treating doctor about your symptoms & discomforts. TrokendiXR may cause side effects like swelling of the face, tongue or throat. It may also cause speech problems, dizziness or troubled breathing. However, you are suggested to get clinically examined by an ENT, to detect any pathology in the ear or throat that may be causing you discomfort. In the meantime, do warm saline gargle 2-3 times a day. Take acetaminophen (tylenol), one SOS when pain.
