What Causes A Red Bruise On The Calf With Swelling Above It?

I am a 31 year old female 5 months post partum and using a nuvaring. I noticed a large reddish bruised area on my calf. There is some swelling and an enlarged vein above it. The area is not sore or warm but does title a bit. Is this something that needs immediate attention or can I wait and call my doctor in the morning?

I can understand your concern.
By your symptoms, I don't see any urgency in your case. So no need to to go emergency room, you can wait till morning to see your doctor.
Possibility of skin infection is more.
So you might need antibiotic, anti inflammatory drugs.
Limb elevation with bandage is also needed.
Don't worry, you will be alright. But consult your doctor in the morning and get done clinical examination of lesion.
