Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 27 year old female and the other day I noticed I had a red lump on my inner thigh. It was hard and about the size of a nickel under the skin and now it s purple and the size of a quarter. I have had a pilonidal cyst in the past, is this the same thing?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
It does not seem to be pilonidal cyst. It's usually situated near tail bone consisting of skin and hairs. The change in colour the lesion shows indicates it to be a blow to skin, painful when hard slowly gets diffused to change colour purple, green, yellow and normal. If there is no infection just use cold pack &pain medicine over the counter. Consult your doctor for aggravation/any other symptoms.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
