Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes A Red Rash In Between The Upper Cheek And Forehead?
Hi I am 32 and have had this red raised rash in my upper left cheek bone and some up to my forhead, this will be the third time in two months I ve gotten the rash. I take 5 mg twice daily subsolve. It s kinda itchy but doesn t really bother me, but it s bright red. I ve taken benadryl and its not helping. What should I do? People keep asking if I got hit in the face.
I can understand your concern. It seems like you are having an allergic reaction to some allergen that you get exposed to repeatedly but do not know what it is. In addition, you need stronger antihistamine than Benadryl to control the reaction.
I would advise you to start with Levocetrizine 5 mg (Levocet) or Loratidine 10 mg (Lorfast) once a day for 5 days. The reaction should subside with this. After taking medicines for 5 days, take a week's break and go for blood test for allergy.
Allergy test will evaluate what substances you are allergic to and you can avoid exposure to it in future.
If the reaction is not controlled within 5 days of taking antihistamine, I would advise you to visit a dermatologist for clinical examination and further investigations regarding the rash on temple.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
