What Causes A Red Rash In The Groin And Upper Leg?
My husband(66 years old) has developed a bright red rash on the left side of his groin , upper leg and two places on his left outer thigh. We are in Missouri and at first thought it was a bad case of oak itch mites that are plaguing our area but I m beginning to think it might be shingles as he complains of intermittent pain and not really itching...trying to convince him to call doctor tomorrow. What would you recommend ?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of red rash in the groin and upper leg which can occur due to contact dermatitis, frictional heat generation, bug bite and could be due to an allergic reaction.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you maintain complete hygiene and avoid itching and scratching of rash. You should consult a dermatologist for proper examination. The doctor may take history and after complete examination will prescribe anti-inflammatory medications along with corticosteroid ointment. Apply cold compresses and avoid any cosmetic product. Apply aloe vera gel to soothe the area. Keep area protected from sunlight as well.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
