Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes A Red Rash On The Chest While On Levaquin?
I have been on Levaquin 500mg for about 4 days and I have bad leg cramps and a bright red rash on my chest, also a high fever that does not go down. Do you have any advice? I was put on this medication for sinus infraction with upper repertory and the doctor said it would fix me in no time..
The red rash on the chest is a side effect of Levaquin and you must stop taking further doses of the drug.
The leg cramps with high fever are due to underlying infection or other inflammatory response of the body, for which you will require an alternative antibiotic prescription from your GP, over and above the Tylenol ( 500 mg ) 3 times a day for pyrexia control.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Purva Patel, General & Family Physician
