What Causes A Red Rash On The Leg When Diagnosed With Cellulitis?

Hi. I was diagnosed with cellulitis on Tuesday after a tender and warm red rash appeared on my leg. Now like 2 days later after starting antibiotics certain parts of the rash seem to be getting less red while others spread and some other parts are beginning to turn more of a slight brown color. I have no other symptoms like a fever or chills or anything flu like but I m worried that this could be something more serious that isn t responding to the antibiotics

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The slightly brown color may be the change in pigmentation that occurs when the skin and underlying tissue have been damaged slightly.
Infection is one source of skin damage.

After infections resolve the skin would normally return to its normal color though this can take weeks in some cases so do not be alarmed if it occurs over a long period of time

Signs and symptoms of worsening infection include increasing pain and tenderness, redness, swelling and warmth.

I hope this helps
