What Causes A Red Rash On The Lower Leg After Walking?
My husband and I have been doing an excessive amount of walking the past 3 days, as we are on vacation in Washington, DC. After the first day, he developed a dark red, blotchy rash on the inside of his lower legs. (ankle to 2/3 up the calf) It is smooth, not raised, does not hurt or itch. But it seems to be getting darker in color and is filling in. Is this something serious- related to the excessive walking? He s taken several doses of Benedryl and is using Corizone cream, to no avail. Any ideas? Thanks- Julie C.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to apply ice pack to reduce redness and itchiness. Maintain good personal hygiene. Use a powder to avoid sweat collection and apply calamine lotion at the sites of the lesion.
If condition doesn't get well then consult dermatologist for proper examination. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics like Clindamycin, oral antifungal or antibacterial depending upon the diagnosis.
