Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes A Red Spot Above The Ankle After A Total Knee Replacement?
I had total knee replacement on my right knee 1 month ago and have recovered very well. This morning I got up and noticed I have a red spot on the inside of my lower leg just above my ankle. It looks like a burn??? It is not sore or hot. It is about the size of my 4 fingers. I don t remember getting bit by a bug or anything like that nor is there a bite mark. Since it is not hurting I did not call my dr today but it seems a little darker red tonight.
You may be a rash or cellulitis or fungal infection. Without examination of the lesion, it is difficult to say what is the cause.
Is there any itching over there?? Is there any swelling? Use Lactocalamine cream locally. If no improvement please consult your treating doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
