What Causes A Round Itchy And Dry Rash On The Hip?
Right lateral hip: 45 yr old female; approx. 3 x 3 circular discoloration. Burning, itching, either dry skin or scaley appearance. Patient states that she has had this approx. 2 to 3 months. Patients husband states that area was irritated by seatbelt. A lump and bruise developed, with bruise disappearing but lump remaining. Now, reddish mark that both itches and burns. Patient has applied neosporin and a cortisone cream, but problem remains.

Hello,
Most probably it will be a superficial fungal infection like tinea. As a first line management, you can apply topical antifungal like clotrimazole for symptomatic relief. If lesion persists better to consult a dermatologist and get evaluated.
