Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, my boyfriend gets a red ring under both armpits..I am not sure if its a fungus or an allergic reaction. I noticed this on him alot. I first thought him being a landscaper he s lots of toxins from plants ect I had him use hydrocortisone cream and it seems to go away, my biggest concern is can I get it too?The rash is about the size of a large lemon round like a ball I didn t see any bumps or chafing..he does use a soap with eucalyptus but, the rash is only in the armpit please help.
As per your query your boyfriend have symptoms of round rash under armpits which seems to be due to contact dermatitis, allergic reaction due to detergent, soap , fragrance and could be due to systemic infection.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult dermatologist once for proper examination. Doctor may prescribe antihistamine , corticosteroid ointment and may give adrenaline shot. For now take benadryl twice a day and apply cold compresses and avoid any cosmetic product. Yes it could spread to you as well if it is infectious. So take all necessary precautions to avoid any risk of transfer.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
