What Causes A Runny Nose And Terrible Cough After Nose Piercing?

I got my nose pierced about a week ago, have been keeping it clean, it looks fine, etc. but it seems like right after I got it done I began having a runny nose, an absolutely terrible cough, sounds like I ve been chain smoking for years, and the cough has I believe been causing my throat to hurt. Is this just a coincidence or is there something I should do to try to alleviate some of this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to a common cold. I don't think that the symptoms are related to the nose piercing. I suggest using antihistamines such as Cetirizine 10 mg daily. I also suggest to drink liquids and rest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
