Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
After a chest x-ray I was told that I have scar tissue in my lungs which seem to be collapsing in those areas I know that I have copd from smoking, however, I ve been off any tobacco for about 14 years. I ve been using my rescue inhaler more frequently then I ever had to. When I go to bed I start with the wheezing and coughing. when I due cough up mucus it has the same color as it did when I was smoking. It had a brownish color like stadium mustard.
Scar tissue in the lungs is due to fibrosis areas of past ventilatory insult with non perfusion. In absence of clinical symptoms, it is not significant, but if the symptoms are contributory then its part for over all management of the condition is must to be calculated so forth.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
