What Causes A Sexually Transmitted Disease?

I got tested for my VDRL and TPHA tests and the result came out as both +ve.My husband is the only man i ve slept with and nobody else.Since i noticed some signs of STDs on him,I asked him whether he slept with somebody else and his answer was NO.And I trust him too.Is there any other way of getting STD?I m working in a Laboratory where I also withdraw bloods.Will a needle-prick be a cause? Thanks. Judy

Dear Judy, Hi & Welcome.
It could have spread from the needlestick injury.
Since both the VDRL & TPHA tests show a +ve results, it is suggestive of Syphilis.
Syphilis is mostly spread by having unprotected vaginal, anal or oral sex with an infected person. Kindly get him tested for the above tests as you seem to have noticed some of the signs of STDs.
The other possibilities although much less common, it may also be spread by sharing infected drug equipment or through broken skin on the body (i.e., accidental needlestick injury). This may be the possible route by which you might have acquired the infection.
