Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am experiencing a slight buzzing sensation in my chest lasts a few seconds then stops then starts again. I have no other symptoms I have no chest pain I am a 70 year old male in decent shape, the only med I take is 40mg of atorvastatin for elevated cholesterol my blood pressure is fine 128 over 72
The strange thing about these buzzing sensations is that it's not clear what causes them. Most likely it's simply a different way of reacting to that "falling asleep" feeling that comes from anxiety and stress
The way anxiety and stress affects your body can be upsetting, and in some cases highly unusual. It's not uncommon to find that you experience symptoms that would otherwise be considered strange - symptoms that may increase your anxiety as you try to find an explanation for why they occur
That's what often happens to those that experience buzzing sensations. These buzzing sensations are usually physical, not auditory, although some people do hear the buzzing sounds. They're a strange symptom without a clear cause that can create significant distress in those that experience it
In my opinion, you have to have blood work to make sure that your electrolytes are within normal limits especially if you have been having any recent vomiting or diarrhea. Thyroid function tests are not unreasonable in these circumstances. An echocardiogram, a holter or an event monitor also most probably are going to be considered
Do exercise/walking and meditation for 45 minutes which will relieve your stress/anxiety and counter the symptoms
Wish You Good Health
