What Causes A Small Bump On Upper Lip That Does Not Trickle?
Thank you, I have a slightly raised very small bump on my upper lip that does not ooze or hurt It is lighter in color than my lips It kind of feels like dry skin but it is very normal I have protective sex but I know that this does not protect from oral transmission of an std ive had this for a long time, at least a year and it doesn t go away I put hydrogen peroxide on it and it chaffed a little but it is not fluid filled it is stationary I wonder, could it be a milia or a Fordyce bump perhaps you can show me accurate pics of these? i m very young and i m concerned
As per your complain a small persistent bump on upper lip can be due to viral infection (Herpes simplex virus).
This infection leads to formation of small bumps on lips mostly in bunches but at times a single bump can be seen.
It is a viral infection and cannot be treated with hydrogen peroxide and needs an antiviral therapy for the treatment..
Using topical antiviral ointments and oral antivirals can help in preventing outbreaks once healed but the antiviral medicines do not cure the infection and just can prevent outbreaks.
Milia is a small keratin filled cyst and can be seen commonly on nose and eyes but can occur on other areas too. Fordyces spots are elevated sebaceous glands commonly seen inside the corner of inside of upper lip and cheek and occurrence on lips are less prevalent but cannot be ignored..
I would suggest you to consult an oral pathologist or a dermatologist and get evaluated and treatment can be planned as per the diagnosis.
Hope this helps..
Thanks and regards..
