Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes A Small Bump Or Knot On Top Of The Head?
I have had a small bump or knot on the top of my head for years and in the last few days it has become sore and red. This has not happened before and now I have noticed it is getting smaller. There is no bleeding or open sores, it just seems red and sore. What could be happening? I have not had any injury to my head or that area at all.
As per my surgical experience, the small bump or knot on the top of head might be a sebaceous cyst, dermoid or lipoma which can be possible without any bleed or open sore. Kindly upload a high resolution photo pic of the same for further assessment and guidelines in this regards. Usually the excision with surgery is best resolution option at first instance if the diagnosis is correct as per said above.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
