What Causes A Small Hard Lump Above The Nipple?

I m freaking out. I had a hysterectomy but kept my ovaries in Nov. I have been having tenderness and soreness in breast for about a week at least every month. I usually do a breast exam monthly. This time I found a small pea like hard lump on the top of the nipple that has me very scared? I didn t notice before. Does it sound like cause for concern? I m panicking.

Hi,

It would have been an better history if you would have mentioned your age but as your giving history of hysterectomy the reason for the hysterectomy procedure been advised for you would also been helped me to come over the diagnosis but by the history that you have give I would advise you to get an mammography done rule out the pathology and if nothing significant comes in it an FNAC can be done.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rajatha S. S., General & Family Physician
