Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son is 2 years old and was born with a small red dot on his ear lobe, the Dr explained this happens sometimes when the kidneys are forming, the dr said as he grows up if he prone to infections which he is, it may have something to do with this and his kidneys, could you please confirm this. thank you Amanda
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have small red dot on the earlobe which is mainly because of irritation to skin of ear lobe area . Continued irritation leads to decreased blood supply in that area and gave reddish purplish discoloration. I would suggest you to wash the areas several times with fresh water , do not use any cosmetic products around ear area , try to avoid using chemical rich face wash , apply some calamine lotion at discoloration area as it will help in soothing the skin , apply mild corticosteroid cream , remove ear ring for few days to avoid further irritation if you have . If the symptoms are severe and keep persisting then consult a dermatologist.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
