Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes A Soapy Taste In The Mouth In A Hypothyroid Patient?
What would cause me to have a soapy taste in my mouth. It has been this way for about a week now despite what I eat or drink and has seemingly no correlation to having left soap on the dishes during washing. I am not taking any medications nor changed my diet in the last few months. I have a diagnosis of hypothyroidism and adrenal insufficiency but am not currently taking medications
Mostly the same as with non-thyroid patients, but the sinus infection is perhaps more common (and the most common cause of altered taste). It could be an effect on nerves but those are mostly LONG nerves and these are some of the shortest.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
