What Causes A Soft Lump On The Jawline Post A Malignant Melanoma Removal?
Hi,
My dad (age 69) was diagnosed with nodular malignant melanoma in April this year. (mid forearm). He had wide excision approx 8cm x 8cm and sentinel node biopsy and PET scan which were clear. He was told no further treatment needed which we thought strange as thought maybe get some chemo to mop up any stray cancer cells.
He has now found soft lump on his jawline which he doesn't seem too bothered about. Could this be the cancer back?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain a soft lump along the jawline can be due to causes like a swollen lymph node and in case if it is freely movable with skin then there is no need to worry about it..
But as he already had a malignancy, it has to be immediately taken into consideration and you should consult a Physician and get evaluated as many a times there can be malignant or cancerous transformation in lymph nodes too..
So my suggestion is to get it evaluated and inf needed a biopsy or FNAC can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
As of now do alternate warm and cool compresses over the lump..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
