What Causes A Soft Spot In The Skull After A Fainting Episode?
I am 83, a male. Several days ago I blacked out and fell in the bathroom. I think I was unconscious for a few minutes. It did bleed for awhile. I still don't feel steady when I walk. There is a soft spot now on my skull where I fell...about the size of a nickel. Any thoughts? Thanks,Thomas
Hi Thomas, I am Dr. Deepak, I work in the Emergency Department, where I come across many patient with injury to head. As you have mentioned you had a fall in your bathroom and were unconscious for few mins. There was some amount of bleeding also. you are still having trouble with walking. The soft area on your skull where you fell, which a about the size of nickel. it is under the process of healing(that is reason it is soft), it will take some more time till heals of completely. I wouldn't be worried about the soft area, I would be more worried about why did you fell? If you already know the reason then it should be fine. But if you don't know, I would recommend you to see a doctor, so you don't have similar episodes in the future. Thank you Hope your concern was dealt with and hope you have a speedy recovery.
