What Causes A Soft Spot On The Head After A Seizure?
Hello, i was just wondering if it is normal to have a soft spot in the middle back of your head after a seizure? I usually have a seizure about once a year and today i had one this morning while getting ready for work and im assuming i fell but when i woke up i was on my bed .. so i dont know what i would have hit. But now i have a soft spot like newborn babies have and ive never had it before. Ive also been having really bad migraines the past couple weeks. Any answers would be appreciated.
If the soft spot is also tender very likely you had the area hurt when you had the seizure and is due to edema from the local trauma there. It is generally nothing to worry and it should get better.
Generally applying cold compresses for 20 minutes might help reduce the edema if you do so within 4 hours of the incident.
After 4 hours you just take paracetamol and ibuprofen if it is painful and just watch it. If no improvement in a few days or any worsening you will need to see your doctor.
I hope I have answered to your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards, Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
