What Causes A Split In The Gums After A Root Canal Procedure?
Hi Doctor........I had surgery to remove a tooth root 5 days ago.......there is a split in the gum and I can see bone where gum was before on the tooth next to the one taken out.
I plan to see my dentist in 2 weeks time.........should be worried about my gum on other tooth....all is sore
If you can see exposed bone over the next tooth where the root was removed then it is a matter of concern although nothing serious. The matter of concern is that you should consult your dentist and get the gums stitched properly in place over the bone as the bone should not be left exposed to prevent infection and necrosis of the bone.. It can also be a point of severe pain.. So my suggestion is not to wait for 2 week and see you dentist soon and get the needful done.. Till that time you should avoid any food accumulation in that area and also avoid eating from that side. Do warm saline gargles and antiseptic mouthwash gargles to prevent infection..
Hope this information helps..
