Hi. i am 30 years old with BMI of 36. was diagnosed with acid reflux, gastritis, esophagitis and hiatal hernia. at first i thought i have heart problems but my ECG and 2D echo results were okay according to cardiologist. i am takign proton pump inhibitor on a daily basis. i usually get a stabbing pain around my chest usually at the left side. at times i take antacid (gaviscon) since i was think this is just heartburn. but at times i think its different since my antacid doesnt work
Commonly stabbing pain occurs due to the trapped wind & you have a history of acid reflux & gastritis. Avoid oily spicy food, take food at the right time, take small amount of easily digestible food 5-6 times a day. Stabbing pain on the left side can be caused by medical conditions like Pericarditis, pleurisy, splenomegaly (ruptured spleen), pancreatitis, kidney infection, etc. Continue to take the medicines prescribed & get clinically examined by a Cardiologist & a GP. Get all blood & Imaging tests done. Get assessed & treated at the earliest.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
