What Causes A Subcutaneous Painful Lump On The Buttocks?

I ve had a small, pea sized lump under the skin on my buttocks for a few years now. When I was diagnosed, my doctor said it was a blocked sebaceous gland . However it never went away. You can t see it at all from the surface but if you press down a little it hurts a lot. It s got a kind of rubbery consistency and can be moved a bit but it doesn t spread of anything. I was just wondering if I should be concerned?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello welcome to HCM. what your doctor is saying is right if you have not met with ant accidents. It swelling will subsides on it self which has happened already but late. This is because the bum has fat deposition in a pockets made up of fibrous tissue. It takes more than a month to resolve completely. when it is healing you are feeling that fibrous tissue which is more hard than the fat or tissue. It is now in the scar stage . Dont worry. Just leave it like that. Take care.
