What Causes A Sudden Sharp Pain In The Mid Back?

Hi! I have back issues with sciatica which displays as deep burning in my buttocks, hip and leg, but recently I began experiencing pain that is completely different. A sudden momentary sharp burning pain in a very precise area of my mid back. It lasts only a few seconds and is not debilitating, but intense enough to really make me take notice. At first it s more sharp, then it burns a little afterward. Any idea what This could be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to the HCM..
The causes for sharp pain at back side could be because of..
1..slip disc pain
2.kidney stone
3.urinary tract infection..
4.previous accidental injury to back causing nerve pain.

I would suggest you to get MRI spine , X ray KUB and urine test to rule out the cause and discuss further with your treating doctor...You may also upload pics here and may discuss about the reports.

Wish you best of health..
