Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 45 year old woman. I have a painful, tender slightly enlarged lymph node at the base of my bicep near my elbow. It appeared suddenly Tuesday afternoon, subsided by Friday morning, and then the symptoms came back Friday afternoon after holding a heavy object. Sometimes the area around the swollen lymph node is sore. I have been experiencing mild night sweats for 5 months and had a battery of tests earlier this year, none of which were abnormal. I m frightened of lymphoma because of the night sweats and I have always had general lymphodenoma since I had mono and HIB as a teenager. Should I persist in having a biopsy?
You will need to have a good visit with the doctor first to determine if it is a lymphnode or a tendinitis of the biceps muscle or any other muscle. Because the lump has started after lifting an object it shows more towards a tendonitis then a lymphnode but a good visit will be able to determine which is the real cause.
After the findings in examination the doctor will decide on further treatment or plan.
I hope I have answered to your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Kind regards,
Antoneta Zotaj General & Family Physician
