What Causes A Swollen Vein In The Armpit?

I just noticed what seems to be a vein underneath my aprmit. I can feel it but it doesn t hurt nor can anything be seen. I had issues just of late with lumps appearing underneath my arms. Those were painful but at this time they seemed to have gone down almost completely. But the protrusion I have now is different as mentioned. Should I be concerned and follow up with my doctor?

Hi,

Both local and systemic (throughout the body) infections may lead to armpit pain and swollen vein. Some of these cause inflammation locally, and others affect the lymph nodes in the armpit, leading to pain.

Several common bacterial skin infections may lead to pain in the armpit, often associated with redness or swelling.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Monish De, Oncologist
