What Causes A Tender Bump Above The Temple Area?

I have a bump that is very sore at the edge of my hairline on the right side of my head above the temple. It is about the size of a quarter. I didn t know anything about it until I happened to press against it. It didn t hurt unless I rubbed it or something. Over the past 24 hours, it has gotten to the point that I have a slight headache on that side of my head and I can feel it when I turn my head a certain way or move my facial muscles in a certain way. Is this anything to worry about?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a benign ( non cancerous) swelling as in case of a dermoid cyst. Consult a general surgeon and get evaluated. A fine needle biopsy is required in case of diagnostic confusion.

Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
