Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes A Tender Hard Area On The Arch Of The Foot?
Just this morning when I started walking, I noticed a slightly sore spot on the arch of my right foot. When I got home from work and took off my shoes I noticed a small, slightly hard area under the skin. It is tender to the touch. I can just barely see a very slight discoloration under the skin.
It looks like you are having pain due to over stretching of the planter fascia. If you are not wearing proper shoes, you may get pain, hardness or an inflamed arch.
The cause can be structural imbalance, some injury, flat foot or simply wear & tear. Wear modified or comfortable shoes, do stretch exercises, physical therapy, give rest to your foot. Take Acetaminophen (Tylenol) or Naproxen for relieve.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K,
