What Causes A Tingling Jolt In The Arm Radiating To The Fingers?
Im a 23 yead old female. Occasionally when i crack the left side of my neck, my left arm gets a tingling jolt all the way down to my fingers. It doesnt linger. Its over as quick as it happens... is this dangerous? Also if it helps, i have tendonitis in my left shoulder and carple tunnel in my left wrist.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Carpel tunnel syndrome would cause tingling in palm region only & it is not triggered by movement of neck, while tendinitis in left shoulder can cause tingling when the swollen tendon presses on the nerve supplying arm. Now the tingling you get while bending your neck on left side can be due to the shoulder tendinitis (due to the pressure on inflamed tendon). It can be due to cervical rib on left side causing pressure symptoms / it can be caused by cervical spondylosis.
Though the symptom is not dangerous at present- it calls for diagnosis and preventive exercises for graver symptoms in future. Please consult your treating Orthopedic surgeon to examine you to differentiate and find the exact cause followed by specific management (physiotherapy/drugs).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks, Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale
