What Causes A Wart And A Hard Knot On The Upper Thigh Of A Child?
My 2 1/2 year old granddaughter had a wart on the upper thigh. It developed into a big circle that it about 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Underneath the skin is a hard knot. On top of the skin, there is rough, red, hard skin. This place oozes and bleeds if she picks at it. What could this be?
Such warts are commonly caused by HPV which invades the skin through scratch marks or tiny cuts. To stop the spread, do not touch it, wash your hands after applying ointment on it. Let her wear cotton clothes. You can apply ointment containing salicylic acid gel locally on the affected area after a bath (pat her dry with a towel before applying the oitment). Duct tapes are also helpful but take the help of a physiotherapist. Cryosurgery is effective, you may consult a dermatologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
