What Causes A White Scar In The Mouth?

I felt pain at the side of my mouth then touched it with my tongue and it felt weird then looked in a mirror and noticed it is a white scar. I have cut back on smoking cigarettes because im taking medicine for acid reflux but today i had 2 small cigars. What could the scar be?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms and with a history of smoking a white scar like lesion can be a Leukoplakia patch or it can also be a cheek bite lesion..

You need not to worry and just consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated..
In case if it is Leukoplakia complete cessation of smoking and intake of multivitamins and antioxidants will help in resolution..
If Leukoplakia is diagnosed care has to be taken as it is a Pre cancerous lesion, although not cancer but if the mal-practice is not stopped then in long term it can transform into cancer.

In case if it is cheek bite lesion then you need not to worry as it will gradually resolve itself..
If there is pain and soreness you can apply a numbing gel containing lignocaine over the sore area..
