Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a wooshing sound in my ear. Seems to be caused mainly by movement (either moving my head or moving from sitting to standing or laying down to standing) I can push on the side of my neck below my ear and stop the noise (most of the time) But I can t walk around with my finger pressed into my neck all day every day. This has been happening for months now. What is it and what should I do? Thanks
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of whooshing sound in the ear which are probably due to a Meniere's disease which occurs due to abnormal volume and composition of fluid in the inner ear and leading to ringing sound in ears.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist once and go for otoscopic examination and audiometric testing to rule out other conditions like acoustic neuroma and inner ear infection. Doctor may prescribe you antibiotic course along with antiinflammatory medications. You should avoid touching or pricking ear with any sharp object. Avoid bending forward and rest properly.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
