Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i am 45 years old female and have not had a regular cycle in 5 years. I have always had a milky white/yellowish discharge from my nipples when pressure applied or in shower. now today in the shower my discharge was a lime to olive green. I have not had any pain. what could be causing this? diet-age-stress-weather... thank you
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Greenish, Yellowish discharge from nipples is commonly seen with hormonal imbalance, breast infection and breast cancer. Considering your age (45 years - menopausal age), possibility of hormonal imbalance is more likely. But better to get done mammography and microscopic examination of discharge to rule out breast infection and cancer. If mammography is normal then no need to worry much. Get done hormone levels. You may need hormone pills to regulate hormones. Once your hormones are normalize you will be alright.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
