Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Abdominal And Chest Pain And Numbness In Face And Limbs?
I know I have an irregular heartbeat and have had it for a LONG time now. I think I had a heart attack this morning because I had abdominal pain, chest pain, numbness in my limbs (I had facial numbness and numbness when I went to bed last night and also a day before that). The numbness in the face and limbs started two days ago and lasted for a couple of hours. I am short of breath a lot and woke up several times early this morning very short of breath. They told me I should have an EKG done. I think I should be doing something more (checking for blockages and blood clots instead). I don't want this to happen again and cause more damage to my heart. Isn't an EKG a waste of time?
An initial EKG followed by an Echocardiography is must....without any further delay!
See your symptoms may be due to a variety of causes - cardiac or non-cardiac.
So, don't jump on the diagnosis on Coronary Blockages. As you said you have had an irregular heart beat ..was it Atrial Fibrillation. The consequences of this disorder of heart rhythm itself may cause these symptoms of yours.
So, without any further delay, first see a good cardiologist or physician in your neighbourhood and let him decide what is best for you.
All the best.
