Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had serious abdominal bloating for a very long time. Appears to be worsening and is triggered with every meal and any exertion or any moderate mental stress. I have an excellent diet of high organic vegetables and lean organic proteins. Additionally, my cortisol level is either below normal or at the lower extreme of normal. Having run companies most of my life , I find I am only capable of 20% of the focused energy level I had only 6 months previously.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Possible causes of abdominal bloating are irritable bowel syndrome, gluten/lactose intolerance, gastrooesophageal reflux disease or any underlying liver or kidney disease. Low cortisol levels for over a period of time may result in gastrointestinal sensitivities, allergies and bloating. practice de-stressing exercises like yoga to manage your stress. avoid sleeping immediately after eating food. make note of foods that are causing you extra bloating and avoid them. If the symptoms persist, consult your gastroenterologist/endocrinologist for further evaluation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
