I am a 67 year old male and have had acid reflux the last 12 years, the va put me on 20 mg omeprazole and things were fine until about 3months ago. I began having more acid and became very uncomfortable with gas and stomach discomfort. I have lost about 17 pounds and have very little appetite. I used to do a mild work out of walking and stretching about 5 times a week approx 40 minutes in length.WIth the stomach pain I stopped the working out and now some of the simplest chores cause back and hip pain.the VA did increase my dosage of Omeprazole to 40 mg which has alleviated some of the stomach discomfort.
