What Causes Abdominal Bloating And Constipation?

Hi, i have been experiencing bloating for the past few weeks to the point that i felt really uncomfortable when eating small meals. I decided to go to a GYN and got an ultrasound done which revealed i had liquid in my ovaries.No other test were done to determine the possible cause of the ovaries but i was given a follow up date to return. I also mentioned that i was experiencing constipation and was given fiber to help resolve the issue. I noticed tonight that i now have swelling to the side of both abdomen just above my hipbones and when i press on each side slightly i can feel like fliud is contained inside. What should i do?

Hi,

Constipation may be caused by several issues. However, you should try first with changing lifestyle and dietary habits.

You need to increase fiber intake. Good fiber sources include bran and other whole grains found in cereals, breads, and brown rice, vegetables such as brussels sprouts, carrots, and asparagus, Fresh fruits, or dried fruits such as raisins, apricots, and prunes Beans.

Also, you should exercise regularly. Moving your body will keep your bowels moving, too.

Second, you may at times need to try a laxative such as Fleet Phospho-Soda, Milk of Magnesia, or glycerin suppositories.

If there wont be improvement on these measures, you should consider doing diagnostic tests such as colonoscopy, anal sphincter manometry and food allergy testing.

In some cases, it may be also signed of tumors so it should be ruled out if symptoms persist.
