What Causes Abdominal Bloating And Lower Backache After A Surgical Abortion?
I had a surgical abortion 41/2 weeks ago & have had a blood test today showing HcG level of 113, I have felt extremely bloated & gassy since the procedure with lower back pain. I still have not had a period. Is this normal? Are the levels normally still this high or could I be pregnant again? Or tissue left behind from the procedure? I m extremely anxious, any assistance would be appreciated, thank you
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Bloating and dyspeptic symptoms are very common after any surgical procedure. It is due to the action of anesthetiser drug and may be due to manipulation of abdominal organs during the procedure. Nothing much to worry and it will subside in few days with conservative measures. You can take antacids like Pantoprazole or Omeprazole for symptomatic relief. Sucralfate syrup can be taken twice a day for bloating. HCG level has came down to 113 and thus incomplete evacuation is very unlikely.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
