What Causes Abdominal Bloating And Pain When Diagnosed With Kidney Stones?

For about 2 weeks I ve had dull persistent pain on my right side, including the front and back. It is not particularly tender to touch but if I really poke my abdomen on the front ride side it hurts more. I feel tired and when the ibuprofen I m taking wears off, I almost feel nauseous. I feel slight pain at the end of my urination stream. I went to the doctor yesterday and gave a clean urine specimen, which turned out NIT Positive , LEU Moderate , and BLO Moderate . I was started on ciprofloxacine for a UTI and they will do a culture from the urine specimen. My temp was normal (though I d been taking ibuprofen) and my blood was 142/100 (it s occasionally borderline high). The physician who was on call (not my usual) seemed satisfied that I have a common UTI. I have a history of kidney stones, and I occasionally feel pain in the same area that I m experiencing now, but without the bloating - and it s usually temporary. I ve never had a UTI that I m aware of and I m wondering if this might be something else..?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted you detailed history and understood the concerns.
Since you have kidney stones the chances of UTI that is urinary tract infection are always present unless the stones are removed and infection well treated by an appropriate course of ana antibiotic and so on.
Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Consult an Urologist for clinical evaluation.
Get all the necessary tests of Blood, URine, IVP that is intravenous pyelography and Ultrasonography and CT scan of abdomen as needed.
All these will to a proper diagnosis and give a plan of propre surgical
and medical management.
You may need repeated management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
