Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My dr started me on Vivelle patch .025 and prometrium 100 mg just this past Wednesday. While it is helping my hot flashes, sweats and insomnia, I have major abdominal bloating and have gained almost 4lbs. Should I stop meds? Will bloating and weight gain subside? I eat pretty clean, exercise 3-4 times a week and drink lots of water. I recently lost 25lbs and don t want to gain back. Also notice Breast tenderness now. Thank you.
A hormonal fluctuation most probably brought upon by menopause based on the information provided is the cause for your symptoms and is what is being treated by your doctor.
But he/she has failed to mention that abdominal bloating, breast tenderness and weight gain are also symptoms of a hormonal imbalance.
Discontinuing the medications will only make things worse, so please try your best to avoid doing so without your doctors advise.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes.
