Hello,

If cirrhosis has been diagnosed, treatment depends on the stage and related complications. Draining peritoneal fluid in ascites is done when your health care provider feels it necessary. If, on the other hand, your weight gain is not related to the condition, you have to see a physician for further evaluation. Hormone assay is needed to help. Further management can be planned accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shanti Vennam
