Hi,

Non hormonal intrauterine device is used for preventing pregnancy for up to ten years. It is an intrauterine device that can provide long term birth control. This device can be used by teenagers and premenopausal women of all ages. It usually works by producing an inflammatory reaction that is toxic to sperm and eggs, preventing pregnancy. After non hormonal intrauterine device (IUD) removal, you may have some light bleeding and some slight cramping during and right after removal. It may last from few days to few weeks. Usually menstrual periods become normal and regular within three months.

Spotting or breakthrough bleeding may occur between periods after removal of non hormonal IUD. Such types of post IUD removal complications are quite normal and eventually go away with the passing of time without any medical treatment. But, if these side effects persist for long or bother you, then you should consult consult your gynecologist promptly for medical help. If you think that you might become pregnant, then do a pregnancy test 7 days after the next missed period.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
