What Causes Abdominal Cramps Along With Vomiting And Diarrhoea?
I have gone to the emergency room several times in the past 4 days. I have been throwing up and having diarrhea for a week and painful stomach cramps. They said I have gastroenteritis, but it s not getting any better and the doctor told me it should be better in a day or two it only lasts a week. What is wrong with me?
Hello. I am Dr. Praveen and I will be answering your question today.
Sounds like gastroenteritis. Some bugs take time to resolve. If after taking appropriate antibiotics you are not feeling fine you should consider doing a stool routine examination along with a blood work - hemogram. A more targetted treatment can then be instituted. Drink plenty of water. Have pomegranate juice (its very easy on the tummy). Drink tea. Avoid coffee and dairy products. Eat light and frequently. Keep yourself hydrated. Tender coconut water is good. But please do the above mentioned investigations as well. Give it some time. You will be fine. I know how concerned you are but some bugs you know wont go away quickly.
Wishing you good health. Please feel free to drop in any more queries if need be. Take care. Warm regards, Dr Praveen Jeyapathy
